Julia Gottfriedsen heads the Data Science&AI department at OroraTech, a Munich-based scale-up specializing in thermal earth observation, primarily focusing on the detection and monitoring of global wildfires. Her teams are engaged in the analysis and processing of Earth observation data, the application of machine learning, and the development of new data products like fire spread models and land surface temperature estimates using OroraTech’s satellite constellation.
With a solid foundation in machine learning and environmental science, Julia has gained substantial experience in both machine learning research and the climate technology sector, working across various prestigious organizations including the Siemens AI Lab (Munich and California), the German Aerospace Center, and maintaining research collaborations with ESA, LMU, and TUM Munich. Her goal is to be at the forefront of technological innovation, leveraging AI and Earth Observation Data to create a carbon-neutral future.
